Repetition

Repetition

With horses, when they don’t produce the desired response, Often people resort to some sort of negative pressure. A kick. A spur. A whip. Aggressive handling. Yelling.

How many times do you have to repeat yourself before you are heard, understood, or can process what’s being said?

Some situations much more than others!

Is it asking the kids to pick up their socks?

Is it a student learning something new?

Is it teaching an employee a skill or a way they might interact w a customer?

For many of us the first time is the ask. Presenting the idea. The second time is often a real reminder. Maybe what was explained was not remembered correctly or not remembered at all

The third time usually is when it starts getting annoying with people.

When you are working w people it’s easier to tell because you can speak to them. They can speak to you. You can see if there’s a real issue. Or if they are just ignoring you.

When it’s a horse- how does that translate though?
What does a discussion with a horse look like?

Do they understand?

Do they hurt somewhere that makes the task difficult or not possible? How do they tell someone that? Do they speak and yet we are not able to hear?

How do we open dialogue with another species?
