Rescue is not retirement
Who is turning a horse into rescue has changed over time.
From mostly people who could no longer care for their horse
Maybe they lost their job, lost a spouse, had major medical issues or illness arise. Maybe they lost their house.
The trend is changing though. The person who bought a horse online and didn’t get what they wanted, the person whose old horse can’t do what they want anymore and need to make room for the new and younger horse
The wealthy owner, that no longer wants that particular horse, and despite having recourses, space, or even the ability to send them to a retirement farm, they want to send them to rescue.
Rescue is not retirement, its rescue. If we fill up all the spots w those horses, where do the people turn to who really do need help.
